Platform: Wii
Genre: Puzzle
This was a game I was really looking forward to, so I had to get myself un-grounded by the time it came out.
Storyline: 1/10
… Again, there is really no story line in this game. It’s a puzzle game. Not many puzzle games have storylines.
Game play: 7/10
What it lacks in storyline, it makes up for in game play. It’s a bit different than what fans of the series are used to, but it still satisfies. The last levels are challenging, even after 490 levels of what seem like the same thing over and over again. It even took ME a couple tries to beat the last level.
Play-back/ Multi-player: 10/10
8 PLAYER! You can’t even count that on one hand! Definitely more than we’re used to. Multi-player is insane! Everyone’s on the same screen, so if someone gets a combo, usually no one knows whose it is until it’s over. And it’s cool ‘cause I always win (Isn’t that right, Green?).
Graphics: 7/10
Not bad, not bad. There really aren’t any distinguishing qualities here either though.
Characters: 5/10
You’re going to recognize Bub and Bob, but unless you’re REALLY into it, you won’t recognize anyone else. Some of the characters are kind of lame-looking. Still, 10 characters for a puzzle game is pretty good.
Sound: 9/10
What’s a puzzle game without nice music? Most of the music gets you into the bubble busting groove and the ending song is a nice reward too.
Cons:
This game was not popular AT ALL. I have only seen it on the store shelves a few times. Plus, like I said, some of the characters look kinda lame and some of the music gets so annoying you want to chuck your speakers into another dimension before you go brain-dead. And the AI in multi-player mode is idiotic, so the only challenge you’ll get is from another player.
Total: 7/10
It’s not a bad game, but it isn’t one of those that will get on any “Top 10” lists.
