Marvel Vs. Capcom 2

Review: Marvel Vs Capcom 2

Marvel Vs Capcom 2:
Platform: Sega Dreamcast, Arcade

Genre: Fighting
My favorite game of all time (so far): Marvel Vs Capcom 2!!! I guess I’ll break it up into sections:

Storyline: 3/10
… Really, there is no storyline. But I gave it 3 points anyway because of the nostalgia the characters bring.

Game play: 10/10
This is where the game shines! 2D arcade goodness at its best. Hundreds of special and super moves to master; from Ken and Ryu’s classic Hadokens to Dan’s complicated taunt/super that doesn’t even do any damage, this game has it all!

Play-back/ Multi-player: 10/10
The gift that truly keeps on giving. 3-on-3 match-ups? What else could you want?

Graphics: 8/10
People would say this game has horrific graphics, but the technology was not nearly what it is now. The actual sprites of the characters don’t change much from previous titles, so you can’t really down-grade them on that. The back-grounds are very well done though.

Characters: 10/10
This game, I believe, has the widest selection of characters of any game ever made. From Street Fighters to X-men to Darkstalkers to Mega Man characters. 64 playable characters! It takes one heck of a long time to get all of them though.

Sound: 6/10
The character sound set is not that bad, and the music is good quality, but annoying as heck (especially the character select screen).
Cons:

…There are a few downsides though. Some of the costumes are inappropriate. Also the cheapness of the AI makes the game pretty hard, even on the easiest setting. And skill does not always beat button-mashing, so that’s kind of lame.

Total: 10/10
Hey, it’s my favorite game, okay? It’s definitely not the perfect game, but fans of any of these series will enjoy it.
