Metroid Prime 3: Curruption

Metroid Prime 3: Currption REVIEW

This game, released in August of 2007, is the final installment in the Metroid Prime series, and the wrap-up of the trilogy. How does this First-Person Shooter shape up?

Graphics
The graphics are beautiful, some of Wii’s finest works. From miniscule detail to lush surroundings, this game is amazing. I’m sure that you could find something to gripe about if you slowed down and looked for something, but the game is so fast-paced that you probably will never get the chance to see something disappointing if it was there.

Control
MPC brings revolutionary control to the whole world of gaming, taking the mouse-and-keyboard control type and molds it into the amazing package called Metroid Prime 3. The Wii remote puts you right in there with the shooting action, adding a whole new level of realism. The nunchuck, in the other hand, controls movement, grapple and a few action buttons. This amazing combo hardly ever disappoints, and almost never twitches up. I wouldn’t play an FPS any other way.

Gameplay
This game isn’t just a simple shoot-‘em-up, it brings back the classic Platforming and Adventure elements from previous titles. There is so much to collect and accomplish among the beautiful planets, the gameplay is great. There are those few tedious missions though, and a few spots where you might be clueless as to what to do. Altogether though, the gameplay is outstanding, Metroid Prime at it’s best.

Enemies
No, unfortunately there isn’t any versus AI, this is about the in-game enemies and how the react. Not once did I see an enemy glitch up or malfunction, and the boss battles were great. No gripes here.

Negative elements
This game can’t be perfect right? Even with the big vault of unlockable bonuses, this game may feel short to you. If you don’t want to take the time to get 100% and unlock all the bonuses (songs etc.) you may be disappointed with the length. I personally would have preferred that it be a bit longer. Though it may be “short” it is most surely sweet. A character does use a mild profanity during the beginning of the game.

Final Thoughts
Do you like revolutionary FPSs? Do you like the other Metroid Prime games? Corruption is about 15 times better than 1&2, so don’ worry if you didn’t like the past game cube games. At least rent the game, it deserves to be played.
