Tales of the Hardcore Gamah

It was November 17th, 2006. Two days before the launch of the Nintendo Wii, on a cold winter night. Most sane people would think of something constructive to do with their two days until the launch of the Wii, but some people would laugh at that. Some hardcore gamers, such as us. Now I had never waited in a REAL line before, sure - I had waited for a matter of minutes or sometimes a few hours for my turn in normal this-or-that things. But that night I was introduced to what real lines were about. I rounded up my nerdy friends and headed to Wal-Mart, on the 17th to wait for the Wii. Outside, in the cold of November, with my buds, waiting for hours for the Nintendo Wii. We were the first people there, but not by much. Once everyone heard that Gamah was there, of course they all herded to the store to wait in line, just like their hero.... Well, maybe it wasn't quite like that, but it there was a LOT of people there. A few times we got to stuff our sleeping bags, draped over our chairs to look like we were in line, and snuck off to play Guitar Hero two, but for the very, very most part we just sat there. And I don't mean to make it sound boring, I had a blast and would do it again. For the last two hours we were allowed to stay in the plant room, where it was a bit warmer. Finally, we were aloud into the Customer Service room, where we had to wait ten agonizingly long minutes before we were alowed to begin shopping. They had a very small amount of spare Wii Remotes, and I took 3/4s of them :P I bought a few games, then we were actually escorted to our car by a big buff guy, in case anyone was planning on mugging Gamah and his peeps to steal their hard-earned goods.

That was over a year ago, but HS (Blue) and I still celebrate that day annually. I've had the above on my mind for a while as the launch of Brawl draws nearer, and thinking what that day will be like... Expect a countdown until Brawl soon.
