Since SOMEONE has been a slacker, not taking his turns for the character reviews, I'll just do them since he never remembers.
Day 7: Kirby
From: Kirby’s Air Ride
Intro: To some, the Kirby series may seem kiddish. But to me, it’s a great series if you just want solid gameplay. My real start with Kirby was the original Kirby’s Dreamland. I borrowed it from a friend for about a week. My record was 9 times through the entire game in one day. Has anyone else out there done better? But I’d have to say the two games (that I’ve played) that best represent the series are Kirby’s Adventure (remade as Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland) and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. I have not yet had the chance to play Kirby’s Superstar, and hope to get it on the virtual console soon. Crystal Shards (Kirby 64, recently released on the VC) is not that bad of a game, but doesn’t fully capture the Kirby feel (what with Kirby throwing his face off for his cutter attack). ANYWAYS, moving on (Sometimes I get nostalgic like that).
What’s new: Kirby’s Hammer attack has changed slightly: a fiery 2-strike attack to better fit his Amazing Mirror powers. Other than that, he’s just plain old Kirby, including his graphics. I’m hoping next time (if there is a next time) that the pink puff will be able to derive some of the hats from his series, not just copying their B moves.
Final Smash: Cook Kirby. It’s a unique move, but that’s just about all the complements I can give it. Should’ve picked Crash, Sakurai.
Other interesting stuff: My old friend from the grayscale days returns to fight another day!
We've moved!
