Review: Link’s Crossbow Training
Platform: Wii
Genre: Shooting
Link’s Crossbow Training was released on the Nintendo Wii’s anniversary (launch day). HS and I wanted to do something for the first Wii Day, and buying this game on launch seemed like a good idea for the following reasons: It is a Zelda spin-off, set in the world of Twilight Princess. Twilight Princess was an excellent game, and the graphics were amazing, so there is one good reason to buy LCT. The other was that it was incredibly cheap. $20! Maybe the length of the game doesn’t quite justify the price tag, but the next reason does: It came packaged with the Wii Zapper. The Zapper was a shell which successfully binds the Wii Remote and Nunchuck together, hiding the cord and making it look and feel a lot more Crossbow-ish. Another reason was that I had beaten and played Metroid Prime 3 too much, and I wanted another solid shooter. And lastly, it is quite arcade-ish, which is a great thing. No quarters required (beyond the $20 of course). So that is why I bought the game, and none of those reasons turned out to be false impressions. Though short, It is tons of fun, especially with friends, and there are even a few secrets in the game, uncommon for a packaged-in-game. The Wii Zapper is sturdy and fun to use with the game. And the cheapness, did I mention that? Nintendo could have easily gotten away with $30 (I actually believe that the price was raised in some, if not all areas). I strongly suggest this game if you can get it with the Zapper and in the $20 range.
