Big games have to be taken in pieces, so I'll brake this up into four sections.
I'll do Wifi first, because I'm sure many people have been wondering about it.
Wifi Vs mode: works very well, I was very surprised by it. In a few seconds your partners are found, usually around 7 other people (but you can get up to 12 total). Then it quickly introduces each racer, showing their Mii, name, and country (though some people don't specify where they live... as if your sore loser opponent is going to track you down and kill you from your name and country).
Your Miis get a special driving outfit, which can vary for some characters depending on what kind of vehicle they are using (Peach doesn't ride side-saddle on a Motor-bike). Then it takes about ten seconds to load, after this you can increase the odds of a stage being selected. It says "vote", but really it just chooses randomly from every one's picks.
Then the race begins, and it is a lot of fun. Depending on how you place, your score will increase or decrease. (You start at 5,000 points, so you definitely want to try to stay above that). There are a lot of good opponents out there, I haven't come across any n00bs yet.
People can join or leave after each race, and there usually isn't any shortage of opponents.
