Snake:
Snake is a character that every one was surprised to see make it into the game, of course - because he wasn't made by Nintendo. This went against the grain of Smash Bros., being a game which pits the skills of characters from Nintendo games against themselves. To say the least, it was puzzling, but many fans embraced him upon the revelation that he would make it to the roster during the E3 video back in '06. I think Sakuri accurately described fan's reactions with the phrase "Snake? Snake! Snaaaaaaake!"
Sakuri indicated that he did not want Snake fighting with guns, because that would cause quite a parental stir. So he said Snake would be fighting mostly with explosions, and that sure is the case.
Snake's B move is a grenade, and you can hold it while moving and alter the distance and direction in which it is thrown. His Over+B move is a guided rocket, which you forfeit control over your character to move about, not unlike PK Thunder. This is a handy move, but be careful not to miss - because if you do Snake will be very vulnerable until the missile explodes on contact.
Down+B move is a mine that you bury, then you can hit the move again to trigger the explosion. Snanke's recovery move is pretty effective, but not very steer-able.
His down smash is more of a Special move than a regular smash, it is a motion-triggered mine. I found this to be odd, because usually Smash Bros character's smash attacks are all physical moves.
I was disappointed to see that Snake only had one taunt, instead of three like all the other characters. (Although him having Smash Taunts mostly made up for it). And also that his first jump was so weak. He barely gets off the ground - but his second jump is normal.
I like his Final Smash a lot, and you can usually get quite a few kills with his grenade launcher from third-person-view attack (depending on your amount of opponents of course).
Other interesting notes: He's one of the few characters that can crawl.
All in all, Snake is a good character, but would require some practice if you were serious about getting good with him.
