=Story - 8
Of course the fan base went wild for storyline between episodes 3 & 4 where Darth Vader finds and trains a secret apprentice named Galen or Starkiller. I won't spoil anything, but ti is compelling through out the game and comes to a climatic close. I rate it 8, counting the few points off for minor plot holes and slightly annoying scripts at time.
=Graphics - 7.5
These graphics can be, and are at points, amazing for a Wii title. There are plenty of stunning visuals, but unfortunately there were quite a few disappointments... Such as stiff animations, mouthing errors, etc. But for a game with very largely destructible environments, most of the objects and things hold up very convincingly when getting thrown around by the Force.
I give it 7.5 - wishing that the cut-scenes and characters could have been polished up.
=Controls - 9
This is the aspect that got fan's minds whirring when the Wii Remote being released - motion controlled Force powers and wielding of a lightsaber.I was prepared for disappointment, but was largely satisfied with the control scheme. No, attacking with the Jedi's signiture weapon is -far- from a Wii MotionPlus experience, but I still found it very enjoyable. I've seen plenty of gripes around the web for the game's "waggle-heavy" element, but I wasn't bothered by it. I find myself using the Nunchuck's Force powers far more often than carving up my enemies, which I might add, works very well. You can execute plenty of off-the-chain moves with the Force, and it really is satisfying to throw stormtroopers to the ground by thrusting the nunchuck down, Force-pushing by extending your arm, etc. It is like it will never get old.
It isn't perfect, they don't work all the time, but largely this game pulls it off VERY well.
=Gameplay - 8.5
So the whole idea behind the game was unleashing the Force, right? Thus the title...
And you know the story, Starkiller is an assassin for Vader - who can leave no witnesses behind to tell of his existence. This leads right into the gameplay - mercilessly carrying out the orders of a Sith Lord, destroying anyone in your path with unheard of Force powers.
This does not get old.
Maybe it will a few times through the game, but this is one. good. game.
This concept might seem a bit repetitious at times... but that's just when you decide to kill the masses of stormtroopers different ways, like tearing off beams from buildings and slamming them down onto your enemies... But if that isn't your thing, you may find yourself bored throughout most of the game.
(And what planet do you come from? *Cough*)
And it isn't easy, for sure. I just wish it was longer.
=Multi-Player - 7
A nice feature to be included on the Wii version, if you've got friends this can greatly add to the replay value. With plenty of characters to chose from and nine stages, you can challenge someone one-on-one to a duel. Though not free of inconsistencies (such as Luke Skywalker using Sith Lightning) it is great for some fun. The problem is if you're friends haven't played a few levels of one player mode or had a -lot- of practice, they will stink - and killing them does get pretty old.
Also, Unleashed Mode, which seems to come upon your character almost at random - can be pretty cheap, and you can't turn it off.
So it has its downsides - but hey, its a perk. Have some fun with it.
=Overall - 9.5
This is almost certainly a must-buy. I would sure recommend it - no doubt.
I give it "Excellent."
